So updates, yeah
It's been a quiet time here lately. Been running around on my time off from work which has me keeping off many of my usual things, hence the lack of updates.
Mostly I have been out and about on various adventures with friends of mine. Had a trip to Waterworld California last weekend which was fun. We also did a few random things around town and a few mall visits. Basically keeping each other busy during our days off.
Work has been hectic at times. We just finished up inventory season last week which was a relief. It got a bit stressful leading up to it but it is nice to have it over. Now I am covering the main tech's vacation which has me doing two 44 hours work weeks in a row. Lost a day off both weeks but the money will be nice.
Cutting this post short for the moment, apparently something interesting is going to go down. Will return with news!
Back from the desert
This last week has consisted of my vacation from work. Last Sunday I woke up early and headed down to Bakersfield to visit some friends. The drive wasn't too bad and luckily few cops were patrolling the roads. Halfway through the five hour drive I stopped in a place called Santa Nella to get some food since I didn't have breakfast. After filling up I was back on the road and continued my journey. I made it to my friend's house at about 2pm (left at about 9am) so my time was great.
The time down there we had good fun. Went out to some places to eat and made home cooked meals which were delicious. I built a Lego train set and we came up with various ideas for it and other sets. A Monopoly City game came down to the most absurd of victories which totally surprised me. I introduced them to Cards Against Humanity which was loved by all, as it should. It was a relaxing and good time.
Eventually Thursday came and it was time for me to head back up north. I ended up leaving Bakersfield about 1pm. The trip up to Santa Nella was smooth and I was making good time, but that would change. When I finished with my pit stop the winds started picking up and things cooled. I continued on and eventually found myself battling high winds and when I got to the pass I had to cross it got harder. Once over the pass the winds died down but the traffic picked up, badly. The traffic had me slowed for almost an hour as I crawled through the far East Bay. Eventually I got out and made it back home, an hour later than I had hoped. The rest of the night was spend resting and catching up on television.
On Friday I picked up a friend to drive up and visiting another in Placerville. This would be the most awkward moment of my vacation. I won't go in to too much detail but holy hell things went crazy fast. The friend I picked up and myself decided to bounce and we raced back to town. The remaining part of the day was spend watching movies with my friend and this would occur against Saturday night.
Yesterday I spent the last day of my vacation resting up and being completely lazy. Was my only free day I have had but I didn't mind much. Today I go back and get to deal with whatever has happened since I left. I just hope nothing is broken.
Climbing the hump
Vacation is just a few days away now. After tonight's shift tomorrow will be spent preparing. Got to get my gear collected so I can be ready to head out Sunday morning. Friday and Saturday are both morning shifts so it doesn't give me much time to get ready. I also have to remember to wash my car so it is somewhat respectable for the drive down. Hopefully most of what I need to do will get done tomorrow so I can relax Friday and Saturday evening (I also might go to a party Saturday night).
Aside from the preparations, work has been fairly easy. Had a long shift yesterday. Dragged at times but somehow survived. Playing it fairly lazy like I usually am before and after vacations. Haven't heard any complaints so that trend will continue until I am gone. One thing I am telling everyone is to not call me while on vacation for whatever trouble they will have in photo. Sadly I am the only person they call when trouble hits and I want freedom from work while on vacation so I have to make sure they realize that.
That's what vacation is, freedom. Damnit.
Summer approaches
May is already over. Can't say it lasted too long, though that was probably do from the excess drinking I've been doing. With the bachelor party and wedding for my brother I have been drinking like mad this month. Good times though.
School is finished for the semester and I actually passed which is shocking. The history major portion is complete and now for the remaining general education classes in the fall. Hopefully those classes go easy on me. I just want to finish up at this point and be done for good.
I got a few more weeks to pump out at work before my week off. Can't wait for it. The drive down should help me relax and especially once I reach my destination. As for work actually, I am ready for it to ease up. Last few days have been crazy with customers and random events. Almost had to knock a bitch out today. Don't need anymore of that.
As for tonight, relaxing. Got another opener in the morning and not looking forward to it.
Well time sure flew
I did not realize that it has been almost two weeks since my last update. It has been a hectic two weeks for sure. Essays and finals for class, wedding preparations for my brother, and work being crazy. All of them have combined to make quite the nightmare for me.
I finished up my last final on Friday evening. Didn't take too long but I fear both classes may have been a waste. I had strong 80s in both but going in to the finals I saw them fall to the low 70s which surprised me since I averaged about a C+/B- per assignment. I can only hope that the points go in my favor and I can get through. If I don't I'll be put off another semester as I make up the classes to complete the major. Another thing that sucks is seeing many friends from the school graduate while I am still dragging my feet along. Part of me wishes I cared more while the other just continues to hate school completely.
The annoyances don't stop with school though. My mom dropped quite a bomb on me the other day as I have been struggling this pay period to make sure I pay off bills and hold out until the check this Friday. She told me I would have to cover the fee for my dad's tuxedo for the wedding. I told her that I didn't want to take money out of savings and that I had enough in my checking account for mine. She went on to say that they didn't have the money for it and I "would have to." This really has me pissed off. They still have a debt with me for a few things and I did loan them about $700 for their trip they didn't budget for. I am sick of this shit.
Aside from that drama, my brother's bachelor's party was quite a time. Started Saturday night and spanned through Sunday night. Lots of drinking and hijinks. We almost got kicked out of IHOP (I know, right?) and created a ghetto slip'n'slide that left some good sized scratches on their chests and stomachs. And as for the rest of the week, work has been the usual stuff.
We'll see how things fair from here.
Saw that coming
Ah, the wonders of higher education. Got a bit of a bone to pick. This last Sunday both of my online history courses had the outline due. After writing them up I sent them to my professor. Naturally I expected a quick response. Oh, that wouldn't happen. No. Instead I get a response the other day saying I need to develop them more. Here's the thing, I already wrote the fucking essays because they are due this coming Sunday. Yeah. Plus, I can't really develop them more because they are just outlines. Bullet points and the like. Not to mention the topics only have a handful of sources provided to use so I can't be expected to just pull info out of my ass. Ugh.
I hate school.
School and work, the terrible marriage
Today has been nothing but avoiding working on my essays. I have two to write by next Sunday but for the life of me I cannot seem to stay focused to work on them. So far I have knocked out two full pages and on the third page for my first essay. It centers on European and Muslim relations around and during the Crusades. Luckily I don't have to worry too much about the quality as I have a decent grade in the class. As for my other history class I need to do some good work on the essay which is why I am saving it for second. That one concentrates on the decolonization of Africa and Asia following World War II and how those new countries rose from it. Not really looking forward to it but I will do my best.
Aside from the school shit, work has been the usual. I did manage to snag a benefit the other night. I went to see The Avengers after work yesterday and when I got to the theater I noticed the next two showings were sold out. It has never happened to me before at this particular theater so I went for a later showing. When I got there I walked in and noticed the lines to get it. There was a girl with a clip board watching over and she noticed me. It was one of the girls who comes to the photo department every now and then to print. I've helped her quite a bit so she knew me the moment she saw. She motioned for me and went "Hey, I know you." I acknowledged and she said that since I help her a lot at my place that she'll help me bypass the lines. I was quite surprised and followed her. The trick pulled through and she got me in before anyone else to pick out my seats. I thanked her and got in. Next time she visits the lab, discount easily. Made my night.
I guess I should continue working on my essay, though I may just end up doing some work on my fake country's bio which I have on here.
Working weeks
It's been a while since posting last. I haven't had too much free time as of the last few weeks. In the last 14 days I have worked 12. First day off in a week is today and it is highly welcome. Another good thing to take note of is that I don't have to go to work until the afternoon tomorrow unlike my usual Friday schedule. I'll take it for sure.
Not too much new news. I haven't heard anything back about the little knife incident weeks back, not that I am complaining. Any write up and I'm gone. In any case, work is the same except for some interesting developments in some people's character. Not liking some new traits. I am hopeful it doesn't last but who knows. I just do my thing and go home.
As for home life, my old car is finally gone. Some guy bought it for $250 and my parents plan to pay me back the $1500 I paid for the damned thing. I also got my tax returns the other day which puts me over the most money I've had at a single time. Working on my way to the goal I have set for myself. Forcing myself to spend less isn't a strong point, that's for sure.
And finally, this track is amazing.
